Garage Rock, The Gas Station

It’s been a hell of a week…My son-in-law rent what used to be an old bordello club disguised by the name of a Blues Bar…. anyway; I’ve been helping him transforming it in a kind of rock-café.
He’s a very energetic and cool kid and I like him a lot, so he asks me for help dealing with this business. We named it "Estação de Serviço" which in English means "Gas Station".
When we start cleaning and painting we had to took out the other guy’s big outdoor sign and we find that the original owner had made in cement the words: "Estação de Serviço e Garage Avenida", as an outdoor sign….these words were hidden behind the old outdoor sign display…..when we saw that we looked at each other stumbled with what we saw… In English means: Gas Station and Garage Avenue….just an incredible coincidence…In that same day we dig for information about this old “warehouse” and we find out that the original owner which was a truck driver in the late 50’s got ill and unable to drive so he made he's small business has a gas station.
In the mean time before opened to the public this man dies …
So, between almost 60 years this space was a car rent office, and then got a bad reputation because through the years this was a bordello club with prostitutes, drunks and junkies. So, the kid was a little worried about this situation...

To cut this story short, this is what we've made out of that place:

The red car is an old Ford Perfect - a lot of trouble to lift it and put there - that we find in the junk almost like this one below; also a hard quest to find those vintage Shell pumps from the early 60's....We paint them in cherry red.

BTW, yesterday was the openning night..........and, it was a blast. I didn't take any picture, sorry.

We tried to find those American vintage gas pumps - like the pick below - but, they're very hard to find those relics in Portugal or even Spain. I found ones, through the internet in England but they were very expensive.
Even though, the ones we got were very hard to find, but we found them.

Tanx guys! It is indeed a very exciting project. We have to work hard because we had a very tight schedule but is very rewarding to see more than 650 people on the openning night, feeling great and having fun.
Also the building facade was rebuild almost like the original made in the 50's. When the daughter - from whom we rent the place -of the original owner saw what we have done to that facade, she was so moved with it that she cries....
About the beer.
We have near 30 brand beers. The Desperados tequilla beer is very smooth to drink but also a little strong - 5.9%. But we have another one a little stronger: 13% Bezebuth beer from Belgium. Something like, lets say, angel's urine with a light phosphate head...erectile-producing heaven.....

I'm DJing at the bar right now, helping my son-in-law and at the same time in ST...it's a weird feeling, but at the same time a good feeling because i'm with you guys.
Now is Queen of tHE sTONE aGES....rOCK HARD, WITH SOME BLACK JACK feels just great...

Tonight it will be a Red Bull night and a live band. We've made some changes at the entrance mostly because of the rain that suddently came. Tomorrow i'll post some pics.
I'll try with my older son - who is studying computers - to get a web camera and see if we can put some live images over the internet maybe next week.
