So, over the weekend I picked up a bookcase (other threads) to use as an audio rack. Has taken me several days of moving things around to get anything hooked up. Went along the tv wall so I'm presently using the Pioneer Elite VSX-21 I had hooked up to the tv but replaced the Minimus 7's with some Celestions. Yamaha cdc is a source. TV sounds very unimpressive but that may be due to how speaker incompatibility. On the other hand the Yamaha sounds very good. Kind of late so I really can't crank things up. Speaker placement is a little on the high side and they have ample bass for their size so I need to drop the the bass a notch or two otherwise my eardrums are bouncing. Missing the vinyl but I'm storing the Marantz 1200, 10B, Sansui 9090DB and McIntosh 6100 on the other shelves so room for a tt is tight. I may try the Realistic Lab 1600 as it's a tray loader. Going to be a few more days (weeks?) of moving things around but hoping to get better placement and operation on the systems.

good luck, I moved my system and I am not super impressed with the results of the sound, but that is where my system is going to stay, sacrifices suck sometimes.

This is a secondary system. Wasn't impressed with the Elite but in all fairness I don't have the remote and from what I understand there are a number of functions available only on the remote eg., there is no "Balance" control on the unit. As such , I decided to slide in the Sony TA-555ES II integrated. Much better sound with the cdp and Celestions but I'm thinking of rotating in Design Acoustics PS8A's. Lower profile and would bring the drivers more in line to listening height. TV is still lacking.

so this system is your "entertainment" type stereo, I could be a lot less critical of a system like that, especially if you make minor changes and it makes it sound better without a lot of work.

Rather, they are all "entertainment" to me. I guess this one more so as it sits along the tv wall. Just gives me another chance to hook up some equipment. Eating up a lot of inside real estate and then some with all this stuff, and hate letting it just lay around. Anyway, I did bring in the Design Acoustics. Much better match. Down firing woofer cured the in-your-face thump. Not as bright with the amp as were the Celestions (DA's are 3-way vs. 2-way with passive.). Very pleased with the sound. Tried to add a Kyocera DA-410 cdp but it has trouble reading burned cds. So I went with a Phillips CDR-795 unit. Not quite as musical as the Kyocera but more than adequate. Pulled out the Lab 1600 tt. Appears the 33 speed pot may need a shot, adjusting or just some play time to loosen up. Been at least a year since I played with it. Still operates flawlessly though. I did free up some room so I'll be able to move some of the main stuff around.

Been a ball-bustin' couple days but due to the recent Pioneer HPM-100 acquisition I had to do some major moving just to get them out of the trunk. Re-did the new rack and took a couple pics. Top shelf. Sansui G9000DB and Kyocera DA-901. The "Boys" are still in hiding after lifting the Sui over five feet blink.gif . Sorry, couldn't get it all in one pic as there is a BOC Reproducer in the way.

I owned Design Acoustics PS-10s and really enjoyed them.

Glad you found synergy with the 8s.

Took a peek at Elroy's clean set up soundt/thumbup.gif . Mine look like the trunk of my car barfed. blink.gif Still trying to arrange free space on shelves. Stored way up at the top is the side of an Akai 77 R2R.

For a cleaner look put only one component on each shelf, and no assessories sharing shelves with components.

No need to change all the racks, just the one you want to have that clean uncluttered look.

You may need another rack to handle the overflow. smile.gif
