Tell us your favorite tweaks you swear that work.

a series of upgrades/mods to my 1985/1986 DENON DCD-1500 CDP,
centering around a shielded IEC power cable with ferrite choke,
isolators from a 1988 DCD-910, thick isolator pads from a 1990
SONY SLV-R5UC S-VHS, and foam on the power switch to dampen
it's action. i truly do not know whether this actually improves performance,
but it certainly pleases me enough on an aesthetic level...

Also in the post Dahlquist DQ-10 Fuses. Replace the system and tweeter fuses with 20 amp fast-blows from Home Depot for under $2. Smoothes the treble right out and raises overall slam, at least with my system:

Thorens TD125LB Turntable
SME 3012 Tonearm
Shure M97XE
Denon DL110
AT440ML
Yamaha CDC-585 CD Player
Adcom GFT-555II Tuner
Hafler DH-110 Preamp
Phase Linear 400
Mirror imaged Dahlquist DQ-10s

Don't actually know what you mean by tweaks. I just try to use the best wires I can afford. I also buy equipment I know by my ears are good.. I do live by power filters. Is that a tweak? I have tried carpet spikes. Just didn't hear a difference. I know there is a lot of voodoo out there; but if it works for you. More power to you. I didn't know I started this thread. LOL

For clarification, Houghton Mifflin says:

Tweak: To adjust; fine-tune.

Mod(ification): A small alteration, adjustment, or limitation.

Change:

1. To cause to be different.
2. To give a completely different form or appearance to; transform:
3. To give and receive reciprocally; interchange: change places.
4. To exchange for or replace with another, usually of the same kind or category.

I'm not suggesting that we get bogged down in semantics. We all know what we mean, right? Regards, all.

The only tweak I have done is replace the platter on my Project Debut with the acrylic upgrade.
Muuuch better than the metal one that came on it.
Played with different mats but settled on the bare platter.
Running silver based cables, sounds good to me.
Been thinking about trying Blue Jeans .

My stuff is considered mid-fi at best so I don't go overboard on the extra stuff.

I run some Audio Magic silver ICs.They are done cryo. They sound good to me. I use silver solder every time I solder. I have very few tweeks in my system. Have studied electricity many years. Just don't get some of the Tweeks. I do run big power cords.
