I picked up an okat-model, lower-mid-fi Technics TT for my friend this weekend on the way to my appointment, as well as another TT, I think a rebadged Dual or BSR for another.

That means the extra Sony is as good as yours. I'll keep you posted when it gets dropped off here at my house, and I'll pack and send it soon after.

Paul, don't worry about the Sony tables. My interest in them was a rouse, an attempt to get your friend's contact information so we could wrangle him into helping you out with the DQ-10s. It didn't work of course and your surprise (to us) trip kind of prevented that from happening anyways.

Ah, well if you really want one anyhoo, I'll now have extras.

I bought that belt-drive Technics with a nice stylus and a Sony CDP for dirt cheapo.

The Sony CDP will do duty in my setup, but the Technics, although in excellent condition and with excellent stylus, is going to end up at my friend's house. So will the other turntable.

They like music, but don't love hi-fi like we do.

I'm considering selling my Design Acoustics (D-12s, D-6s, PS-10s, and PS-3s) and am curious if there may be some interest. All units are operational (except for one tweeter with a D-6) and are in varying states of condition from rough to pretty good.

I've finally taken some pictures of the Pioneer DT-400. As you can see, it really is in near new condition aside from the smalls scratches on the plastic display due to dusting in the past.

The marks on the top are dust left from wiping the top off quickly and the white stuff on the back is lint from the cloth.

I dug an old NAD 7060 Receiver out of my closet the other day and really don't have much need for it. It's from NAD's first series back when they were known as New Acoustic Dimensions, the following series included the 3020 that put them on the map. There's a pretty good review of the even rarer 7080 over on Audiogon that includes most of the details.

This particular unit is very rough cosmetically and while it works, it does need some electrical attention. It might be a good unit for a beater, secondary system or for parts -- there appears to be decent looking wood under the vinyl that could make for a better finish, but the knobs are pretty beat. While it's difficult to tell from the last picture, the transformer is surprisingly large for a 60wpc receiver and dwarfs that in my friend's Pioneer SX-939.

As not too many of these have been listed for sale recently and due to the poor condition of this unit, the price is up for offer. A package trade deal for several of the items I've listed for sale here for a single item would be great.

Just trying to clear out unused items that I'll never get around to fixing up.

Besides the mooshed speaker connections, what's the electrical it needs?

Nice looking unit.

Not that I need any more speakers, but what are you asking for the D-6s and PS-10s?

I've got some PS-10s coming my way with bad woofers, for free. I can't believe I'm inquiring about any more gear, I must be absolutely nuts...

Nice looking unit.

Basically, everything I checked on it seemed to be working fine, though I didn't give it a thorough going over. The sound, however, shows more harshness, unevenness, and distortion than I'm accustomed to hear from NAD gear of this vintage. It's not terribly obvious, but implies to me that there are likely some caps, transistors, and other parts that have gone out of tolerance and need replacing. It is missing the jumpers, but I could've sworn I had a set around here somewhere that would fit (a bit wider spacing than with most other units from the time such as those from Pioneer). Both sets of speaker connections are a bit mooshed, but the mains are mostly attached. The pictures don't really show the roughness of the receiver all that well, there are further dents, dings, and scratches in the faceplate and elsewhere. The dial glass on the 7060 is plastic, unlike the 7080, and so has a few scratches of its own.

I'm not particularly desirous of letting these units go (I rather like the looks of the veneer on the D-6s), so I'd like to receive around the upper market value before letting these go ($250-300 for the D-6s, dunno about the PS-10s). This morning I received another knock for my opinion of these speakers and realized that I'd likely never use them all that much and they're just taking up space. The cost has outweighed the benefits of the humor in having such oddballs.

It'll be a shame to see the D-12s go, but I understand your plight.

I'm undecided what to do with those dead-woofered PS-10s- restore or part out.

If I part 'em out, would you want a spare tweeter in case your repaired unit "un-repairs"?

I can't help but wonder if the woofers in those PS-10s are really dead. Perhaps it's just foam rot or maybe it's simply a damaged tinsel that you could attempt to repair.

I'm pretty much fine with the tweeters I have now, the repair seems to be holding alright and if not, then I can fix it again. Just so you don't feel the need to part them out just for my benefit.

We'll see how things work out, and we'll keep in touch.

I'd love to hear a review of your D-6s like you wrote up for your D-12s.

Aight. As to the D-6s, the sound is pretty similar to the D-12s; the rest is like I wrote before.

MCS 3207 - $10

The face plate has a few noticeable scratches, particularly around the headphone jack, and a dent nearby. The controls are scratchy and need some DeoxIt, but I ran out a while back. Though silver, the dial is actually back lit plastic resulting in off-white letters.

A while back, I picked up a single, empty Tannoy Berkeley enclosure in the thought that I'd use it to experiment with bracing for my pair. It's looking like I'll never get around to that and might just build new cabs instead. Besides, it's Walnut and my other pair are Teak, so they don't match like I thought they would.

So, if someone wants it, I have a single Tannoy Berkeley enclosure. Walnut veneer that is in decent enough condition with just a few marks, small scratches, and the bottom corners are a touch damaged. The grill cloth is dark brown. There is no driver, crossover, nor backplate, but the foam is there. Free to good home.
