Today I finally got it delivered and set it up tonight. soundt/banana.gif It is a lot quieter than the C-26 by far. Of course it's not 35 years old either smile.gif I like having plenty of inputs and the remote is very nice. The only drawback is the C-31V doesn't look as nice in dim light as the C-26 does. Due to the 31 only having half a glass face instead of a full glass face.

Now I have to get some 1st. generation knobs so the knobs match and then I'll be set. The switching is done with pushbuttons or a remote and is silent. It has I/O for a processor so I may someday hook up a 5.1 just so I can watch the music DVD's I have and run it all through one system.

I think ultimately I'd like to end up with a C-38, 39 or 41. Problem being the price goes into 4 digits which leaves me out smile.gif

I brought the camera home from the museum and took one picture before the damned battery died. So here tis. You can see the scratch in the cabinet that dropped it's price to 65.00. Which doesn't matter to me at all. The scratch saved me about 100.00 smile.gif

Excellent write-up.

So, you paid $65 for it? Wow- pretty good deal! Or was it $650?

I have a Sony switcher that's pretty flexible, able to run 6 amp & pre-amp/receiver/integrated amps, 3 tuners, 3 TTs, and 3 or 6 tape/aux sources- very flexible, but no remote control, no silent switching.

I've thought of getting an item that I could control volume, switching, ect, from my lounge chair, an item allowing me not having to get into my other "chair" to switch sources or change volume. something like this could be the ticket.

Excellent review, and thanks for the pictures!

Paul, I paid 65.00 for the cabinet. The preamp was 550.00. Which is 2-300.00 under current market value. I hope smile.gif Also I forgot to mention in the write up it has the variable loudness control for those who use them. It's a big improvement over the off/on loudness contour switch.

I've seen this unit, no cabinet, on the 'Bay, for buy-it-now of $850, so looks like you did well!

Congrats, and happy listening!
